要旨

留学生のキャリア形成支援において求められるものを検討するために,パネルセッションを組んで,キャリア形成支援の現状の分析と支援の取り組み事例の紹介を行った。まず,留学生側と支援者側との間に意識の「ずれ」があること,留学生の多様性や要望に対応できるだけの専門性を備えた人材が不足しているということを報告した。次に,留学生のキャリア形成意識を養成する教材作成の取り組みや,キャリア形成支援についての研究・実践の取り組みを紹介した。結論として,多様な文化背景や考え方を持つ留学生の支援においては,支援者側がその多様性を理解し,留学生が<自身で成長する核>を育てることを念頭に,教職員間での情報共有を密に行い,継続的な支援を行っていくことが肝要であることを指摘した。

Abstract

To examine what is required in career development support for international students, a panel session was organized to introduce the analysis of the current state of career development support and specific examples of support efforts. First, the panelists reported that there is a gap between the expectations of international students and supporters, and a lack of personnel with sufficient expertise to respond to the diversity of international students and their needs. Next, the panel presented efforts at educational institutions in Japan to create teaching materials to cultivate international students' awareness of career development and efforts in research and practice to support career development. The panel ultimately concluded that in supporting international students with diverse cultural backgrounds and ways of thinking, it is essential for supporters to understand such diversity and to provide continuous support by closely sharing information among faculty and staff to nurture a foundation for international students to grow through their own initiative.
