新たなコンテンツを生成することのできる生成AIを使って日本語教育に資する質の良い日本語の例文を作成することが可能か、またその英訳の質についてChatGPT（GPT-3.5, GPT-4.0）と「日本語例文バンク（Jreibun）」の作成例文およびその英訳を比較し、検討を行った。GPT-3.5による日本語の例文は、現状では、種々の点において要求を満たすレベルとはなっていないことがわかった。GPT-4.0では指定された条件を明らかに外すことはないが、日本語教育において利用するためには、文脈を補うなど修正を加えることが必要であることがわかった。GPT-4.0の英訳はGPT-3.5に比べると精度が上がっていると思われるが、いずれも単語レベルの誤訳のほか、文レベルでも誤解を与える可能性のある訳や、誤訳が生じることがあることがわかった。例文作成も英訳も生成AIを活用するにはこれらの点に注意する必要がある。
Using generative AI (ChatGPT (GPT-3.5, GPT-4.0)), we investigated the possibility of creating high-quality Japanese example sentences to contribute to Japanese language education, as well as the quality of their English translations. We compared these with example sentences and their translations from the “Japanese Example Sentence Bank (Jreibun)”. Our analysis revealed that the Japanese example sentences generated by GPT-3.5 currently do not meet various requirements. While GPT-4.0 generally adheres to specified conditions, modifications such as contextual supplementation are necessary for educational purposes. Although the English translations by GPT-4.0 seem to have improved accuracy compared to GPT-3.5, both versions still exhibit word-level mistranslations and occasional misunderstandings at the sentence level. It is essential to utilize generative AI for example sentence creation and translation with attention to these factors.
