MURAO Seiichi
The confrontation between Nijo faction and Kyogoku faction are phenomena in the history of Waka poem known well in the Middle Ages of Japan. The Nijo faction consists of the apprentice with the Nijo family who succeed Fujiwara Teika house as eldest sons. The Kyogoku faction consists of the assenter with the Kyogoku family that succeeds Teika house, too. Kyogoku faction free, fresh reformation conflicted with the maintainability of the Nijo faction. In addition, both sects related to Imperial families who were divided to two, and conflicted clearly.
Two collections "Gyokuyou Waka poem collection" and "Fuga Waka poem collection" composed by the Kyogoku faction are certainly conspicuous in the Middle ages of Japan. Everyone can notice the large difference from Waka collections of the Nijo factions by reading through. The existence of Waka style of the Kyogoku faction might be clear. However, it is also true that Waka of a lot of poets of the Nijo faction are included there. Moreover, Waka of the poets of the Kyogoku faction are included in the collections of the Nijo faction oppositely. They are not noises of that collections.
The point of contact of both is seen there. The activity of the poets of the Kyogoku faction was almost limited in the 14th century in the latter half of the 13th century. I intend to think whether the one as the sectional style the Kyogoku faction has the extension as a style of the age of Waka poem in the Middle Ages.
