This paper studies the "N_1 wo N_2 ni shite", adverbial clause, with special attention given to "shite", the "te-form" of the verb "suru". First of all, 8 different example sentences of this type in "Chuukyuu Nihongo" are examined.
(new paragraph) In order to illustrate this examination more objectively, 102 sample sentences from the editorial section of the Asahi Shinbun are also studied, and classified by various points such as : if the "suru" can be the predicate of the sentence, inflects as a verb, whether the verb "suru" is an intentional verb or not, which vorbs can be replaced by "suru".
Some conclusions drawn from the study are as follows:
1) According to the process from the dynamic verb "suru" to function verb "suru", the most appropriate order in which to introduce this clause is 1. wo aite ni shite, 2. wo jooken ni shite, 3. wo riyuu ni shite, 4. wo tegakari ni shite, 5. wo chuushin ni shite, 6. wo mae ni shite, 7. wo ato ni shite, 8. wo katate ni shite.
2) The verb "suru" in "N_1 wo N_2 ni shite" has the characteristics as the function verb; "suru" in this clause has such functions as to accentuate or emphasize the adverbial clause or parts of the sentence. To illustrate this more concretely, we want to draw your attention to the following example.
